How do we change our behavior? Surely resting and recuperating will help us refresh, but if we don’t change our habits, recuperation just staves off problems for a while. The long-term strategy to well-being includes conscious attention in the moment. That is ultimately an aim of learning the Alexander Technique. We can become free to consciously choose our responses in the moment of activity, and if we find that we have already reacted, we can pause and redirect ourselves. The attainment of conscious control is a lifelong project, and any moment we use to learn is a gift we give ourselves. In this session, we will integrate lessons learned in the earlier weeks and use a sequence of thought to guide ourselves while preparing to move and during movement itself.
